DAY 1

Begin your journey in historic Hanoi exploring the city’s highlights—the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Hanoi Opera House and Temple of Literature—with your private guide.

DAY 2

Explore Hanoi’s bustling Old Quarter, a vibrant district of bustling shops, interesting sights and tantalizing food.

DAY 3

Drive to Halong Bay for a scenic boat tour of one of Vietnam’s most picturesque and iconic destinations. Spend the night aboard a Chinese sampan afloat in the turquoise waters.

DAY 4

Journey back to Hanoi and settle into your cabin aboard the overnight train to the frontier town of Sapa.

DAY 5

Breakfast with a sweeping view of the terraced rice paddies and spend the rest of the day visiting hill tribes and touring traditional villages before spending the night in a traditional Sapa guesthouse.

DAY 6

Explore the tribal hub of Sapa. Shop for colorful souvenirs and handicrafts at the traditional markets. Sample the fresh, local cuisine before catching the overnight train back to Hanoi.

Cruise the Perfume River for a close look at the peaceful Vietnamese countryside. Tour the mausoleums of ancient emperors along the way.

DAY 9

Follow the coast South to Danang, stopping to see the unmistakable Marble Mountains and the long white expanse of China Beach before continuing on to quaint, coastal Hoi An.

Drive just outside of Saigon to explore the historic Cu Chi Tunnels—nerve center of the Viet Cong during the American War (as it is called locally). Visit the temples of Tay Ninh in the evening.

DAY 13

Board a local craft for a cruise on the legendary, life-giving waters of the Mekong Delta. Explore the region’s unique floating markets and quaint rural scenes.

DAY 14

Visit any favorite spots or sights you might have missed before bidding farewell to Saigon and boarding your flight home or to another fabulous Asian destination.
